Vertical Hour is a new project in Tirana, featuring residential buildings arranged in a vertical settlement - 'Hora', in ancient Albanian. Below, there is a vibrant new park, along with various amenities and opportunities for both residents and visitors. Furthermore, the project aims to engage the local neighboring community. It is designed as a unique vertical village set amidst a large green city. Aimed at portraying the chaotic nature of Tirana vertically, the project places a strong emphasis on sustainability. Local sourced materials from Albania are used to minimize the carbon footprint and support the local economy. The result is a building that leaves a sustainable impact on both city visitors and those who live there. The design integrates urban and rural elements, with towers expected to become iconic landmarks, offering a visually stunning presence and a distinct local atmosphere.
From a distance, the buildings present heights and distinct perceptions from different views around the city. Up close, the playful interaction of the concept reveals its secrets, and compositions draw from the main road toward the park at the back, creating the most suitable transition in terms of scale. Using abstraction and synthesis as working tools, the project seeks to provide a specific interpretation of the features of Tirana, presenting a unique yet essential and authentic sketch. The entire project has been developed using seven different cubes, each with seven floors - a characteristic average height for most buildings in Tirana. Each cube embodies a unique concept related to art and also inspired by the local language. The initial construction phase consists of thirteen cubes, each measuring 22.5 m by 22.5 m in three different heights, giving the composition a fluid and dynamic profile.
