The building's unusual shape allows it to partially enclose a new green space, especially valuable in a busy capital city where open spaces are scarce.

The practice was able, through a rotation of the silhouette of the future building in relation to the plot and the recession of the ground floor, to imagine a statuesque building which is nevertheless permeable: without closed facades and various openings that form as corridors to connect this new construction with the existing ones. Generous planting and balconies with inward views give a sense of closure and protection from the busy city.

The design of the 24-storey Exhibition Building allows it to occupy only 44% of the site, while the external facades pay attention to Tirana's climate with a solar shading system that minimises heat gain in the generously glazed building in summer. . The design team calculates that these strategies will mean the building uses 30% less energy than other comparable developments
